In 2004, my friends and I were hooked on Chobits and for my second con, I chose to cosplay Sumomo. Everything about Sumomo is just so adorable! Annoying, definitely - though still cute! Also, my friend Kayla planned to cosplay as Kotoko, which made us a fitting pair.
This costume was made by my mother (with minimal supervision from me) and we really struggled with the costume's construction! There was no pattern that matched Sumomo’s bodysuit exactly so I chose a bad pattern and non-stretchy fabric which made everything that much more difficult. The whole project was definitely a lesson in the hardships that come with inappropriate fabric choices. The scarf and bow were very cute though and were the first cosplay pieces I ever constructed.
Despite all the problems surrounding the costume, I still had a great time at the con. This is one of my least favorite costumes but a learning experience all the same.
